A former member of the London Stock Exchange, Ian has spent the past 40 years as a specialist in equity and fixed income markets, covering research, market making, proprietary and option trading. He became Chairman & CEO of Charteris Treasury Portfolio Managers Ltd in 2002 having formerly held senior positions Chase Manhattan Bank (now JP Morgan) and Dresdner Kleinwort Benson & Guiness Mahon (now Investec).
Ian Williams is a Chartered Fellow of the Securities Institute, a Chartered Wealth Manager, he was awarded with the accolade of becoming a Trustnet Alpha Manager in 2011, and accomplished a CityWire A Rating in calendar years 2009, 2010 & 2011. He has been a regular contributor to the national written press as well as various broadcast networks including RT, Bloomberg, CNBC & BBC Radio 4.

Terry has over four decades experience in the investment markets having worked for both Barclays Bank as a Foreign Exchange trader both in London and Brussels as well as Standard Chartered Merchant Bank as Head of their Floating rate note desk. He has been exposed to a great range of asset classes from US Treasuries to the derivatives futures and options market.
Terry became an IFA in 1990 and started to grow his client base. Terry acquired a licence from the Institute of Financial Planning in 2005 which is an internationally recognised qualification. Terry is qualified at Level K10 Retirement options – covering all types of pension advice. Terry is also qualified both to G60 and G70 level to cover both Pension advice and Investment Management.
In January 2012, Terry was granted membership of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment (MCSI) and is now level 6.
Terry is the lead manager for the WS Charteris Global Macro Fund.

Jonathan is a Chartered Fellow of the Securities and Investment Institute. He has worked in the Investment management industry for over 20 years.
He has previously worked at, and held important positions at large Institutional firms such as Rensburg Sheppards (now Investec), where he held the role of Divisional Director, specialising in the management of both discretionary and advisory private client portfolios, Julius Baer, where he worked in private client relationship management and business development and Hottinger, the Swiss Private Bank.
Prior to commencing his career in the city with Killick & Co stockbrokers in 1995, Jonathan served as an infantry officer in the British Army.

Colin Robertson has circa 40 years investment management & financial experience. He has held important and influential positions at some of the largest names in the financial sector including Aberdeen Asset Management, Cornelian, Gillespie MacAndrew LLP and Brown Shipley.
He has managed clients both on a discretionary and advisory basis in that time, across global markets and all sectors. He has demonstrated robust risk management skills and is extremely client focused.
Colin graduated from Aberdeen University with a MA in Accountancy and went on to acquire further qualifications including the London Stock Exchange exams as well as the LSE Private Client Futures and Options exams. Colin is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.
Mark graduated from Surrey University with a BA in 2005 and began his career in Investment Management with Forsyth Partners as well as doing work experience with brokerage houses RP Martin and WH Ireland. He joined Charteris in November 2008 as a Junior Fund Manager assisting with the management of both individual private client portfolios as well as the management of all the in-house Charteris funds.
Mark was chosen to feature on the front cover of Citywire WM manager (issue 386) to give in depth feature on how the outstanding 2016 performance of the DMS Charteris Gold & Precious Metals Fund was achieved.
Mark was also an active cast member in Robin Hardy’s 2012 movie “The Wicker Tree” (which is listed on IMDB) which was released in the USA on 27th January 2012.
Richard graduated in business studies and has worked in the financial services industry for nearly 40 years.
Richard worked initially in the Treasury Department of Lloyds Bank, then in advising directors and senior executives of the corporate clients at Noble Lowndes (a leading firm of employee benefit consultants and actuaries); subsequently he was appointed a senior manager in the personal tax department of Deloitte & Touche, and then manager of the South East region of the financial services division of merchant bank, Guinness Mahon (latterly Abbey National Benefit Consultants) before co-founding his own practice, The Regent Organisation Ltd.
Richard has found that a large number of his clients are past the “accumulation” stage in their financial lifetime and now need to manage the funds that they have saved more effectively. Charteris provides greater resources and a more cost-effective method of assisting these clients. Richard is a member of the Personal Finance Society.
Non Exec Director
Starting his career in financial services under the mentorship of Ian Williams and Terry Farrow, Moritz began managing the (now closed) HC Charteris Property fund in June 2014. Having overseen top quartile performance in both 2015 and 2017 in its sector, Moritz was promoted to lead manager of the fund.
Moritz holds the Investment Advice Diploma (IAD) awarded by the CISI and graduated from the University of Westminster with a BA in 2007. He has worked for numerous charities including Oxfam, Cancer Research, British Heart Foundation and Fara.
Cecilia McLaughlin commenced her financial career in 1995 working for various global financial institutions including Goldman Sachs, Citibank, Alliance Investment Bank amongst others.
Cecilia has extensive expertise in equities and a broad range of other asset classes, as well as extensive multi-asset dealing and execution in her previous roles. She joined us with her broad expertise in multi-asset flow and is part of the investment team.
She manages international high net worth clients and is also involved in business development, client relationship management and investment management.
Derek is an accomplished professional investment manager qualified to Level 6 with 30+ years’ experience and it is a privilege to offer personalised bespoke investment services to clients across the north west of the UK.
It is Derek’s passionate view that our role is to help clients create personalised investment strategies that meet their individual objectives and requirements with particular emphasis on their specific views on risk and return.

Lizz is a strategic management leader with over 30 years’ experience in the Financial services industry, specialising in investment management and the private equity market. Widely recognised for possessing excellent communication and interpersonal skills, Lizz has successfully developed trusted client relationships ensuring consistent delivery of any set targets. Neil Thapar is the public relations adviser to Charteris with 30 years’ combined experience as a London-based financial journalist and media relations consultant.
He analysed and commented on a wide range of companies and market trends while working as a reporter and City editor for several leading news organisations including Bloomberg, Evening Standard, Mail on Sunday, Sharecast and The Sunday Telegraph.
He was part of the launch team of The Independent newspaper and wrote the Mail’s influential Midas column for five years. After two decades in newsrooms, Neil founded a financial PR consultancy to provide board-level advice on investor communications and media relations.
Marion’s career has encompassed experience in the engineering sector, event organisation, finance, sales/marketing and many years in the unit-linked Life & Pensions industry with Vanbrugh Life, part of the Prudential Assurance Company.
Alexandra has worked in asset management for more than 15 years. She holds SII Certificates in Investments (Securities) and in Investment Administration.
Alexandra also holds the UKSIP Investment Management Certificate (IMC).
She is based in our Exeter office.

Nick is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. Nick Taylor has 40 years of international investment management experience, gained at Morgan Grenfell, Samuel Montagu, Head of Institutional Investment management INVESCO MIM and was Managing Director at Cigna International Investment Advisors and at Matheson Investment Management.
An award-winning manager, Nick has run portfolios for a broad range of investors, including institutional pension funds, private clients and investment trusts.
