Ian Williams has spent the last 35 years as a specialist in Equity and Fixed Income markets, covering sales, research, market making and proprietary trading.
He was a Member of the London Stock Exchange for many years before joining Chase Manhattan Bank (now JP Morgan). He subsequently worked for Dresdner Kleinwort Benson & Guinness Mahon (now Investec) before becoming Chairman & CEO of Charteris Treasury Portfolio Managers Ltd.
The Funds run by Ian Williams include the City Financial Strategic Gilt Fund, which uses a covered option writing strategy as part of the investment process. Since its launch in December 2006, the fund was the best performing Gilt fund in the IMA UK Gilt sector in calendar years 2007 and 2009. (source LIPPER and Morningstar).*
This covered-call strategy is also applied to the Elite Charteris Premium Income Fund, which has a four-star rating by Morningstar and a Triple Crown Rating from Trustnet. It has been number one over a three year period, rarely outside the top 10 in the IMA UK Equity sector.* This equity fund invests solely in the FTSE 100 Index and is the longest living covered-call writing fund in the UK.
Ian is also the investment manager of the WAY Charteris Gold Fund which was launched in the first quarter of 2010 and is in the IMA UK specialist sector. In the first three months of trading, also was the number one fund against over 3,200 mutual funds across the UK.*
Ian Williams is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Securities Institute and a regular contributor to the national written press and various television networks including Bloomberg, CNBC, Reuters and BNN.
